Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are setting the stage for a bold new direction in the 'Jurassic World' series, with Gareth Edwards, the acclaimed director behind 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story', at the helm. Scheduled for a July 2, 2025 release, this new installment promises to reimagine the iconic dinosaur universe, diverging from the familiar faces of both the recent trilogy and the original Jurassic Park legends.

After deliberations with David Leitch did not lead to an agreement, the studios quickly turned their attention to Edwards, who has proven his mettle with large-scale blockbusters such as 'Godzilla'. His engagements with studio executives and commendable discussions with producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, pivotal figures in the franchise's inception, swiftly culminated in an offer. With pre-production set to escalate following the finalization of the deal, anticipation is building for what Edwards will bring to this beloved series.

The upcoming 'Jurassic World' film is poised to chart unexplored territories, as it is confirmed that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, stars of the recent trilogy, as well as Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill from the original movies, will not be featured. This move signals a fresh narrative approach, distancing itself from the characters that have defined the franchise over the past decades. David Koepp, who has a history with the 'Jurassic' series, contributes his expertise as the scriptwriter, hinting at a story that will both honor and rejuvenate the saga.

Steven Spielberg will executive produce the project under the Amblin Entertainment banner, alongside Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley of the Kennedy-Marshall Company. Overseeing the project for Universal Pictures are Sara Scott, Executive Vice President of Production Development, and Jacqueline Garell, Creative Executive of Production Development.

Edwards' appointment as director is a testament to his ability to navigate the waters of high-stakes filmmaking, having directed 'Godzilla' and 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story', the latter amassing over a billion dollars in global box office receipts. His vision for the 'Jurassic World' franchise is highly anticipated, as fans look forward to a new era of prehistoric adventure that promises to captivate and surprise.
